Dress Code Guide
We’d love for you to dress up and feel your best! Here’s a simple guide for the Sangeet.
The below attires for Men and Women can be found online and in the UK.
Here’s a link as an example https://in.kalkifashion.com
SHERWANIS
A long, structured, coat-style outfit worn over trousers, traditionally the most formal men’s Indian attire.
This is the most ceremonial and grand option, think the Indian equivalent of a tuxedo or morning suit.
Please Note : Be mindful this is quite heavy and voluminous (something to consider when packing).
KURTA JACKET SET
A knee-length kurta paired with trousers and topped with a short tailored jacket.
Dressier than a kurta set but lighter and more relaxed than a sherwani, perfectly balanced for festive evenings.
KURTA SET
A long tunic worn with matching trousers, comfortable and effortlessly traditional.
The simplest and most relaxed option, less structured and less formal than all the others.
INDO-WESTERN
A modern fusion outfit combining Indian silhouettes with Western tailoring.
The most fashion, forward choice, ideal if you want tradition with a contemporary, designer feel.
JODHPURIS
A sharp, tailored suit with a high closed collar, inspired by royal Indian dressing.
More structured and suit-like than kurtas, but less ornate than sherwanis, very elegant and refined.
Woman outfits are varied. Sarees, Lehenga, and Salwar Kameez.
Sarees can be bought ready to wear to save having to learn to drape the material which is an art in itself. Lehengas are quite heavy so do bare this in mind for packing. Salwar Kameez is a broad term with many options in sub categories, if you search for this you’ll have a variety of options as shown below. Some of the alternative names for various styles are: Sharara, Anarkali, Kurta and Palazzo, along with indo-western styles.

SAREE
A long, elegant fabric draped around the body with a fitted blouse and skirt underneath.
The most traditional and graceful option, no stitching, all drape but now can be found stitched and draped so no hassle of having to drape it yourself.
SALWAR KAMEEZ
A knee-length or longer tunic (kameez) worn with straight-cut or wide-leg trousers (salwar or palazzo pants), often paired with a coordinating scarf or dupatta.
Comfortable yet elegant, making it ideal for social gatherings and festive occasions.
LEHENGAS
A fitted blouse paired with a full, flared skirt and a matching scarf (dupatta).
The most festive and glamorous option, ideal for dancing and photos, more dramatic than salwar kameez.
Please Note : Be mindful this is quite heavy and voluminous (something to consider when packing).
INDO-WESTERN
A modern fusion outfit blending Indian fabrics with Western silhouettes like gowns, capes, or co-ords.
The most contemporary choice, perfect if you want tradition without full ethnic styling.
